My City - The Future for Dublin

Client: Noho Ltd.

Nine touch screen kiosks in a dedicated, permanent exhibition space at the Wood Quay offices of Dublin City Council. Kiosk functionality includes interactive video navigation, content managed information display and webcam recording video feedback application with a moderation tool. One unique kiosk among the nine includes a sliding physical handle which, via an Arduino microcontroller, allows visitors to "slide" through time studying the development of Dublin over more than 1000 years. Development was completed using... Flash (AS3), Northcode SWF Studio, PHP, MySQL, JAVA, RED5 Media Server.

Silverlight Christmas Card

My first adventure with Silverlight is a DeepZoom Christmas e-card for Noho Ltd. The map of Dublin is a huge image which users can magnify to reveal incredible details at street level. The objective is to find Santa, who's stuck in a chimney somewhere in Dublin, 1509. View the Christmas card here.

Medieval Dublin II

Medieval Dublin II is an interactive DVD-ROM which explores the history of Dublin city from it's Viking founders right through to the Tudor period. As lead developer on the prototype sequel I introduced new functionality which enhances this interactive experience and expands upon the innovative timeline interface of the original.

The Big Picture

Client: The Farm

Seven varied interactive exhibits featuring high definition video content, mobile connectivity, touch-screen interaction, live video tracking, live video recording and sms control. The Big Picture (due to open early 2009) is an interactive space located at the Luas stop at Tallaght where South Dublin County Council intends to communicate it's vision for the future to the public.

The software developed for the space includes a full suite of content (video) management tools operating on the local network. As lead developer on the project, technologies used included: Adobe Flash, Macromedia Director, Quicktime Pro (with automation), XML, PHP, MySQL, SMS interactivity, DMX Lighting control, Visual Basic, and MIDI communication, among others.

Tasked with creating a widget application for a mobile technology expo, the Graffiti Wall is the resulting simple and flexible marketing application. Concept and development was supported by graphics from The Farm and shortcode service provided by Puca.
