Ok, here I go… this is my blog, and this is my first blog post. As per tradition, it’s the one that has no real content or objective (a sign of what’s to come?) save the announcement of the blog and an outline of intended objectives for future posts…

I’m a multimedia developer by trade, and I’ve got a passion for making interaction work. As such, I’m constantly jumping from one tech to another, meeting development challenges and informing visual/interaction design decisions as I work with some very talented people here in Dublin.

I hope, using this blog, to publish some accounts of my experiences with technologies and environments including Flash, Processing, Silverlight, SWF Studio, Expression Engine, Arduino and a few more besides. I’ll post code snippets and links to valuable tutorials and techniques I’ve unearthed along the way.

I enjoy my work. I remember once I asked my grandfather (a painter decorator) a question in that fascinated, inquisitive way that only a well-slept 7 year old boy can; I asked, “What’s your favorite part of your job, Grandad?”. He said “Seeing it finished.”, and I felt a bit disappointed – probably because I didn’t understand.

20 years later… I feel the same way he did, about the work I do, so I hope to post accounts of some finished projects here.

I’ll also be sharing any valuable lessons I’ve learned while working freelance and interacting with a range of clients/colleagues/friends in the industry along the way.

Lofty ambitions you see, only time will tell.
